Welcome 2026!
Are you ready for a new year?
Before you jump into resolutions, I
invite you to explore something even more powerful: the relationship between your
vision for 2026 and the spaces you inhabit every day.
Take some time this month to imagine what you can release and how you want to show
up in the year ahead. In Feng Shui and behavioral psychology, there’s a beautiful
concept called symbolic interaction—the understanding that our surroundings are
constantly communicating with us. The stack of papers on the table whispers “unfinished
business.” The overflowing closet murmurs “decision fatigue.” The broken chair quietly
says, “you deserve better.”
The gift is this: when you consciously shift your space, your space helps you align,
focus and relax!
The Golden Guideline: Keep What Aligns With Your Values + Vision
Instead of asking, “Should I keep this?” try asking:
“Does this item support the person I’m becoming in 2026?”
When decisions flow from your values-health, ease, creativity, abundance-decluttering
becomes liberation. You aren’t losing things; you’re gaining room for your next chapter
to emerge.
Imagine the Life You Want and Curate Around That
Close your eyes and picture your ideal day in 2026. How does your home feel? Light?
Spacious? Calm? Inspiring?
Now look around your space and ask:
“Does the life I’m calling in have space in this room, closet, this pile, or this
furniture.
Move Toward a Life of Simplicity
Simplicity isn’t about owning less—it’s about removing the distractions that mute your
joy. As we evolve, simplicity becomes self-care, clarity, and future-planning all rolled
into one.
A Few Practices to Begin the Year
• Create a Vision Zone.
Choose one space aligned with your top intention for 2026—health, romance, prosperity,
peace—and start there. Allow your home becomes a living, three-dimensional vision
board.
• Try the 10-in-10 practice.
Release 10 items a day for 10 days. Donate them, gift them, Post on NextDoor and Buy
Not Stuff- Petaluma Facebook pages. These small shifts quickly transform energy and
momentum.
• Refresh Your Entryway.
In Feng Shui, this is the “mouth of chi.” Clear it, brighten it with a bit of red, and let it
welcome the year ahead.
• Use the Future Self Filter.
Hold each item and ask: Does this belong in the life I’m creating now?
As we step into 2026, remember: your home is a place to create, recharge, share your joy.
If you’d like support with downsizing, Feng Shui, or vision-guided decluttering, Elegant
